Meet the Board

Our board is comprised of 5 very dedicated Michigan Fishing members trying to make things happen. They are a diverse bunch of students studying anything from business, to nuclear engineering, or even law. Some like to catch largies, others prefer rock bass. Learn all about our unique cast of characters below!

President
Michael Lipinski

Michael has been part of a small group of enthusiasts that target common carp with soft plastic worms ever since he caught a 30 pounder with a senko in 2017. He has fished his entire life and is known for his precision casting. His favorite fish to catch are smallmouth, but he has a soft spot for catfish. You can find him throwing buzz frogs around ponds in Ann Arbor.

Vice President
Eddie Grella

Eddie puts the "small" in smallmouth. Catch him targeting the species at the Argo Park cascades manning the micro Mepps spinner. In the summers he gets salty and hooks into some monster stripers (not strippers) in his home state of Connecticut. Yung tuna, baby.

Secretary
Curtis Townsley

Curtis is a fifth-year senior here at UofM studying psychology and entrepreneurship. Curtis considers himself an amateur fish whisperer. This would explain his favorite fishing quote, which is “of course I talk to myself while fishing… sometimes I need expert advice.” I’m sure fish whisperers offer great advice!

Treasurer
Nicholas Ringler

Nick is a sophomore here at UofM, studying electrical engineering. He is from Beverly Hills, Michigan. His favorite place to fish is Hubbard Lake, Michigan, where he targets his favorite species to catch, the smallmouth bass. He also commonly goes for perch and walleye. His favorite fishing quote is, “The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.”

Secretary
Ben  Levy

Ben is a freshman here at UofM studying Aerospace Engineering. He’s originally from Rochester, New York. That makes him the first member of our club to come from New York. His most memorable catch was a largemouth he caught on a whopper plopper on his third cast at Onondaga Lake after seeing multiple bass busting the surface. His favorite fishing quote is “HE ATE IT!”
