Meet the 2025-2026 members
Our board is comprised of very dedicated Michigan Fishing members trying to make things happen. They are a diverse bunch of students studying anything from economics, to mechanical engineering, to the environment. Some like to catch bass, others prefer salmon or salwater species. Learn all about our unique cast of characters below!
Roster - Michigan Fishing Leadership
President- Josh TuckerJosh is entering his junior year studying Business Administration at the Ross School of Business. He is from South Lyon, Michigan and plans to graduate after Winter 2027. Josh's favorite species to catch are Smallmouth Bass. His favorite combo is a medium heavy baitcaster with a whopper plopper. His most impressive catch is a 5lb 12oz Largemouth Bass in a river. He also paints his own hardbaits.

Vice President- Sam GrafSam is starting her senior here at UofM studying Music and plans to graduate after Fall 2025. She is from Allen Park, Michigan. Sam’s most impressive catch is a 17-pound Carp. She serves as Vice President for the team. Her favorite combo is a 7’1” spinning rod paired with a jerk bait or a whopper plopper. Sam has even been known to fish off a paddle board up in northern Michigan.

Treasurer - Spencer WhiteSpencer is entering his second year here at UofM, expecting to graduate after Winter 2028. He is from Holland, Michigan, and is currently undecided on his major. Spencer’s most impressive catch is a 4’5”, 35-pound Greater Amberjack. He serves as Treasurer for the team. His favorite combo is a 7' medium heavy spinning setup. Spencer has fished in almost every way you can imagine, from fly fishing to deep sea fishing, surf fishing, trolling, and more.

Social MEdia Chair - Brady bush Brady is a junior here at UofM studying Mechanical Engineering. Brady is from Portland, Michigan. His favorite species of fish are Smallmouth bass which he spends a lot of time targeting in Northern Michigan. His favorite combo is a spinning rod with a dropshot. Brady's most impressive catch is a 6.7 lb smallmouth out of Grand Traverse Bay. Some of his other hobbies include playing sports, working out, and hanging out with friends.

Secretary - Mia PascuzziMia is a student at UofM studying Applied Exercise Science and is expected to graduate after Winter 2027. She is from Grosse Ile, Michigan. Mia’s favorite catch was a saltwater Spanish Mackerel. She serves as Secretary for the team. Her favorite combo is a medium heavy spinning rod paired with a crankbait.

Faculty Advisor - Marc GadenMarc is with the School for Environment and Sustainability and teaches Great Lakes and water policy through the Program in the Environment. He is also the executive secretary of the Canada-US Great Lakes Fishery Commission. Marc grew up in Oakland Township, Michigan (an hour northeast of Ann Arbor) and fishes throughout the Great Lakes basin--both the lakes and streams. He's probably fished Lake St. Clair, Georgian Bay, and the Little Manistee River more than any other water bodies in the region.

Graduate Advisor- STeven FOrtneySteven is an incoming 2L here at UofM studying Law, with plans to graduate after Winter 2027. He is from Clinton, Michigan. Steven’s most impressive catch is a 40-inch Pike he caught while ice fishing. He is a former President of the team. His favorite combo is a medium light spinning rod paired with a ned rig. Steven also loves kayak fishing on Lake Erie.

member-Benjamin RusselBenjamin is a senior with us, studying Biology, Health, and Society (and Spanish). He's from Sheridan, Michigan and likes to rock a medium-light action combo with a senko, although his favorite catch of all time was from saltwater: a roughly 20 pound Almaco Jack he'll never forget.

member-Joe MurphyJoe is a student here at UofM studying Electrical Engineering and French Horn Performance, graduating after Winter 2027. He is from Rochester, Michigan. Joe’s most impressive catch is a 42-inch Musky weighing around 10 pounds. His favorite combo is a 7’ moderate medium heavy baitcaster rigged with a crankbait. Fun fact — Joe has already caught two fishing rods this year!

member-Will TschetterWill is a senior studying ecological management and science. He hails from Stewartville, Minnesota. His favorite combo is a 4wt st criox with hopper dropper, and his most impressive catch is a 49 inch Northern Pike. He also recorded an episode with the producers of Meat Eater - look for it in late 2024.

member-Dylan MoslerDylan is an incoming junior student studying Electrical Engineering and expects to graduate after Winter 2027. He is originally from Austin, Texas. Dylan’s most impressive catch is a 12-pound Largemouth Bass. His favorite combo is a 10 wt fly rod rigged with saltwater streamers.

member-Patrick WangPatrick is a junior with us in Ann Arbor studying Data Science. He comes from Dublin, Ohio, but we don't hold his home state against him since he's joined the wolverine family. His favorite catch is the pike pictured!

member-Paul QuinnPaul is a Senior here in A2 studying civil engineering. He comes from Holland, Michigan, and his favorite catch was a 40 inch Northern pike. His go-to combo is a Medium heavy baitcaster with15 lb fluorocarbon and a jig rigged on it.

member-Daryn CookDaryn is a grad student with us, studying Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Hailing from Indialantic, Florida, Daryn's go-to combo is a medium-light spinning combo with a jighead-ed gulp minnow, although we suspect the 40" striper above didn't come on a medium-light setup.

member-Richard ThillRichard is a grad student with us who is studying Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. He's from Glen Cove, New York, and has been known to slay King Salmon. Despite having caught king salmon up to 27 pounds, he still prefers going for bass with a Heavy Baitcaster, 50lb braid, and a frog.

member-Grant VermeeschGrant is a first-year mechanical engineering student who just joined us in Ann Arbor. From Emmett, MI, his go-to combo is a heavy action rod, a baitcaster, and a buzzbait to burn atop the water. His all-time favorite catch was a largemouth bass that was a tick over 5 pounds.

member-Patrick WallacePatrick is a entering his junior year studying Data Science and plans to graduate after Fall 2026. He is from Brighton, Michigan. Patrick’s most impressive catch is a 20-inch Largemouth Bass. His favorite combo is a 7-foot medium rod paired with a Lew’s spinning reel and a wacky rig. Patrick has recently started a new tradition of going King Salmon fishing up north every fall.
